You Can't Use the Name "Burgerstock", Says Birkenstock
Posted by HELLOSLIPPERS
Dear HelloSlippers Family,
We wanted to take a moment to address some recent developments regarding our product formerly known as Burgerstock. As a small company, we’ve always prided ourselves on our creativity and the unique flair we bring to the footwear market. However, we recently received a cease-and-desist letter from Birkenstock, requesting that we stop using our chosen name.
First and foremost, we want to clarify that we never intended to mislead anyone into thinking our slippers were affiliated with Birkenstock. Our “Burgerstock” slippers were created with love, inspired by playful designs and comfort, and we believe our customers understood that they were distinct products. It’s disappointing to feel like a small brand trying to make our mark is being overshadowed by a larger corporation that has taken issue with our creativity.
We fully recognize and respect Birkenstock’s long-standing history in the footwear industry and their right to protect their brand. However, we can’t help but feel like David facing Goliath. As a startup, every little decision we make comes with challenges, and this one is particularly tough. It feels unfair that our passion project has been called into question by a corporate giant.
Despite these challenges, we want to assure you that we are committed to moving forward. In response to their request, we will be rebranding our “Burgerstock” slippers. While it’s disappointing to change something we hold dear, we believe it’s essential to honor the concerns raised while staying true to our mission of providing comfortable and fun footwear.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this transition. Our commitment to quality and originality remains unwavering, and we’re excited to unveil our new name soon. Thank you for being part of the HelloSlippers family, and for standing by us as we navigate this journey!
With gratitude,
HelloSlippers Team
